Three Downloads Updated (Map Pack, Legacy Disc Mod, Editing Tools)

By TronFAQ on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 3:36 AM
Three projects for TRON 2.0 have been updated, see below for details and download links.

While the latest 12.27.2012 release of the Complete Map Pack does not include any new maps, it does fix an issue where the installer would not work correctly if the language in Windows was not set to English.

The Complete Map Pack is a collection of all the fan-made Multiplayer custom maps for TRON 2.0.

Version 1.1a of the KMX Legacy Disc Mod also corrects the same issue where its installer would not work correctly if the language in Windows was not set to English.

The Legacy Disc mod is a TCDG mod that allows you to change the discs in TRON 2.0 to look like the ones in TRON Legacy.

Version 1.2a of the TRON 2.0 Self-Installing Editing Tools again fixes the same issue with its installer, where it would not work correctly if the language in Windows was not set to English.

Another fix is the installer no longer aborting after choosing to skip extraction, if a previous existing extraction was done improperly. Also, now on uninstall, you are informed that WinREZ LT Studio and XN Resource Editor must be uninstalled separately.

Meanwhile, work on a fix for TRON 2.0 Multiplayer is underway. See the article about Gamespy dropping support for older games, to find out more about the situation. Also visit the LDSO Facebook page for discussion on the subject.

TRON 2.0 Gamespy Master Server Offline For Good?

By TronFAQ on Saturday, December 08, 2012 at 1:00 AM
January 20th, 2013 UPDATE: A fix for TRON 2.0 Multiplayer has been released. You will need the fix to play online.

After some good news (TRON 3 sequel moving forward) comes some bad news.

I just found out that Gamespy Technologies was sold by IGN to another company named Glu Mobile, a few months ago. Didn't even know about it, until now.

Well, that company has decided to drop support for a lot of older games that use Gamespy for multiplayer connectivity, some time in the week preceeding the date of this article. Hundreds of games are affected, and TRON 2.0 is one of them. Players of these older games are incensed as you might well imagine, bombarding the Facebook Gamespy page with lots of angry comments.

So, basically, you will no longer be able to find any servers for TRON 2.0 Multiplayer, from inside the game. We'll either have to wait it out and see if the new owners reverse their decision due to the uproar, or if we need to: come up with an alternative way to find servers.

Either way, TRON 2.0 Multiplayer is currently crippled. The LDSO servers that would normally be running on weekends, will remain offline for the time being because of the current situation.

Sad times.

TRON 3 Fast-Tracked For Release In 2014?

By TronFAQ on Thursday, December 06, 2012 at 6:30 PM
The on-again, off-again TRON 3 (for lack of a better title) sequel to TRON Legacy is back "on" again. Apparently, its release is being fast-tracked, and last everyone heard (from Bruce Boxleitner, TRON himself) the film is supposed to be released in 2014.

"It's in the works," he explained. "Anything could happen, but all I can say is, it's in its formative stages. [Joseph] Kosinski, who is slated for it, he's shooting another movie now, and then they'll get around to doing that. I think somewhere around 2014, maybe. I'm talking way out of school here, but they can't shoot me because I'm TRON."

Hopefully, this news means that TRON Uprising has a chance of being renewed, after all? But please sign the TRON Uprising petition if you haven't already, as an extra measure to help ensure the show isn't cancelled.
