Syd Mead Documentary
Last year, I received an intriguing e-mail from Richard Souther. In it, he mentioned that he had composed the soundtrack to a documentary called Visual Futurist: The Art & Life of Syd Mead. This documentary, by Joaquin Montalvan, should be coming out some time this year.
If you'd like to hear samples from Richard's soundtrack for the film, visit his site by clicking on the image below. From the main page, click on Discs and then Visual Futurist. From there, you can click on track titles to listen to. (Personally, I think his music is pretty astounding.)
What prompted this article, is that today I found a 5 minute clip of the film on YouTube. Apparently, it was posted by Joaquin himself within the last 24 hours (as of the time this article was written).
Steven Lisberger and Richard Taylor briefly appear in the clip, speaking about Syd's work.
June 22nd UPDATE: More information about the documentary can also be found HERE.

And on a tangentially related note, I also found a clip of the PC version of TRON 2.0. I thought that for those of you who haven't seen the game in action yet this would give you a glimpse into how nice the game at least looks. Frankly, I think the whole game is terrific . . . but that's for you decide.
At any rate, it's related to this article by the slimmest of threads: due to the fact that the clip features glimpses of the Super Light Cycle, that was designed by Syd for the game.
