TRON Comic Issue 6 Release Date

By TronFAQ on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 2:49 PM
According to Diamond Comics, issue #6 of TRON: The Ghost in the Machine by SLG Publishing will be released next week Thursday, September 4th, 2008.

September 4th UPDATE: Diamond Comics has screwed up the release date for the second time in a row. TRON #6 is now scheduled for a September 10th release. Apologies for the error. But, trust me. I'm just as annoyed by the shifting dates, as you are. :p

Issue #6 will be the final issue. There is also the previously announced trade paperback that collects all the issues into one book, but the latest word on its release is that it won't be out until around Christmas.

TRON Comic Issue 6 Preview Videos

By TronFAQ on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 1:04 PM
SLG Publishing and TRON: The Ghost in the Machine co-writer Landry Walker, have both recently released videos that contain preview images for issue #6 of the comic. Needless to say, the previews shown are spoilers. So if you don't want to spoil yourself, you may not want to watch the videos.

However, for those who do: here are the two videos. The first is an interview with co-writers Landry Walker and Eric Jones, containing a few preview images. The other is strictly a preview of all the issues of the comic, including some artwork from issue #6.

I also posted some vague spoilers in a previous article, based on a preview copy of issue #6, for the spoiler junkies out there. :)

While I'm at it: I thought I'd include a video released back a couple of years ago, from when the comic debuted.

MacPlay Is No More

By TronFAQ at 12:30 PM
A short time ago, I discovered that MacPlay no longer exists. Or, at least, not in its original form any more.

The company now calls itself MumboJumbo Premium Casual Games. Attempting to visit the old MacPlay site URL redirects you to the new site. They now create casual games for all platforms, rather than specializing in Mac titles.

Fortunately, patch files for all their older games are still available from their site. This includes the PowerPC Mac OSX version of TRON 2.0.

However, this does inevitably mean that no further patches for the Mac version of TRON 2.0 will be developed. Any bugs will not be fixed (such as the Dedicated Server not working on OSX 10.4 Tiger), and no new patch will be created to make the game work on OSX 10.5 Leopard.

It's sad to see TRON 2.0 being abandoned by MacPlay, but at least they have a slightly better track record than BVG/DIS. (Four years of being prominently listed on their site, versus less than two years at BVG.)
