Disney Updates TRON 2.0 And TRON Evolution On Steam

By TronFAQ on Sunday, July 02, 2017 at 7:18 PM

Disney (whose game division seems to continually reorganize and rebrand itself every year, so I've given up keeping track) has updated TRON 2.0 and TRON Evolution on Steam.

The TRON Evolution update occurred on June 28th, 2017. With the TRON 2.0 update following a couple of days later, on June 30th, 2017.

Both are stated as having "Windows 10 compatibility" updates applied to them. While the official news about the update for TRON Evolution posted on Steam is accurate, the news for TRON 2.0 is a bit of a mischaracterization about what the update entails.

The version of Games for Windows Live (GFWL) bundled with TRON Evolution on Steam, until now, was the same version included on the PC Retail DVD disc version. This version of GFWL only worked correctly on Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

Installing the game from Steam on any version of Windows later than 7, would result in the installation attempt failing. The end-user would be required to find, download, and install the most recent GFWL in order to solve this issue and allow installation to complete. With the Steam update, this is no longer necessary.

Contrary to rumor, GFWL has not been completely shut down. Only the GFWL marketplace (where you could buy games) was closed. You are still able to log into GFWL, and still play Multiplayer matches, in TRON Evolution. (GFWL simply utilizes Xbox Live servers in order to function. So there's little reason for Microsoft to end GFWL support, as long as Xbox Live continues to exist.)

For TRON 2.0, the game has always been able to run properly on Windows 10. As shown in the video above.

But an extra launcher program (TronLauncher.exe) was added to the Steam release. This launcher was flawed, and could prevent the game from starting on Windows 10. (For that matter, it also could prevent the game from starting on Windows 8.1, 8, and even 7.)

I created a patched version of the launcher, and made it available almost immediately after this was introduced to the Steam release. Disney has now patched the launcher in the same manner, meaning the end-user is no longer required to find, download, and install an alternative launcher that would allow the game to run.

However, the game itself has not been updated.

No version of TRON 2.0 (Steam, GOG, and certainly not Retail) has received any Windows 10 specific updates to the game itself. Or official updates of any kind, for that matter. No new in-game features have been added, and no additional bugs fixed, since the game's final retail patch in 2003. Only unofficial fan-made updates exist at this time. (Unless you want to call Steam trading cards, and cloud saves, new features.)

While it's great that Disney has finally addressed both games' issues, I can't help but wonder why it's taken almost three years (since they debuted on Steam) to fix the problems. Disney has known about them, since day one. Both games have received many a negative review, or refund request, in the meantime.

So while these updates are, perhaps, not what people were really hoping for: if they raise awareness of both games, and make people want to play them again, then that is most certainly a good thing. :)

December 23rd, 2017 UPDATE: I've added an embedded video to this article, showing that it's possible to get the original Retail disc version of TRON 2.0 to run on Windows 10, using the fan-made Unofficial Patch from 2003. This, again, demonstrates that the "Windows 10 update" for the Steam version of TRON 2.0 is not what it's been made out to be. TRON 2.0 has always been able to run on Windows 10.

TRON 2.0 Released On GOG.com

By TronFAQ on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 7:50 PM

TRON 2.0 has been released on GOG.com today, at an introductory price of $9.99 USD!

I had already speculated that the game would be showing up there soon, a few months ago. Based on some datamining that someone did of the GOG site. It arrived a bit later than expected (December instead of October), but it’s here!

Right now, I have no idea how well all the mods for TRON 2.0 will work with the GOG version of the game. (Someone posted in the GOG forum that supposedly the Killer App Mod works fine with the GOG version.)

Regardless, I’ll test all the mods and see how they work with it. And make any adjustments to make mods work better with it, if necessary. (GOG did not contact LDSO or give me a heads-up about this release, in any way.)

Right now it doesn’t include any extras like GOG games usually do (wallpapers, soundtrack, etc.), but if GOG is willing to work with me I may be able to provide some rare extras (if they can’t source enough from Disney).

Thanks to Employee_427 on Twitter for the tip! (Apparently GOG hasn't even tweeted about the release on their Twitter account yet, at the time I’m writing this!)

March 21st, 2017 UPDATE: I'm late in adding this, but I wanted to mention that thanks to PaulTheTall and his ThePortingKit project, it's possible to quite easily play the GOG Windows version of TRON 2.0 on OSX/MacOS on a Mac.

I've also since tested all the existing TRON 2.0 mods with the GOG version of TRON 2.0, and posted my results on the GOG.com forum here. The short answer is that, yes, they all work without needing any updates.

TRON RUN/r Mac, Linux, SteamOS Versions Cancelled

By TronFAQ on Friday, October 07, 2016 at 3:09 PM
Afraid I’ve got a bit of bad news. It looks like the Mac/Linux/SteamOS versions of TRON RUN/r have been cancelled.

Development on these versions were already well underway, not long after the release of the Windows version of the game on Steam. They briefly became available on the Steam store page (for one day) back in March 2016, but were then quickly pulled. (Note the Apple and Linux/SteamOS logos on the archived store page.)

Updates to the Mac/Linux/SteamOS versions continued behind the scenes until May 2016, but then stopped. So from June until now (October 2016) there were no updates at all.

However, a few days ago another update occurred. They were removed according to SteamDB, and are no longer considered supported versions of the game.

Something else I’ve noticed, is that development on the Windows version of the game stopped in July after the Outlands DLC was released. So no updates for the last two months. Prior to this, TRON RUN/r was constantly being updated behind the scenes. But it might be jumping the gun to say that there may be no more updates or new DLC, so I’ll keep an eye out to see if the situation changes.

Oh My Disney Article Reveals Daft Punk Tracks Not Used In TRON Legacy

By TronFAQ on Friday, September 09, 2016 at 10:09 PM
The Disney owned site Oh My Disney revealed how they convinced Daft Punk to do the soundtrack for TRON Legacy.

I always thought it was director Joseph Kosinski who wanted them. But it turns out that it was Disney themselves, long before Kosinski was brought on board or even a single frame of film was shot.

Also, there was a collaboration between Daft Punk and Jay-Z on one song meant for TRON Legacy, but it wasn’t used in the film and wasn’t officially released. The song leaked online a couple of years ago, however.

Unused Daft Punk and Jay-Z collab track "Computerized"

Another really interesting revelation is that Daft Punk composed a lot more music for TRON Legacy — that, again, ended up not being used — and is yet to be released in any form. (However, these were considered “temp” tracks. Daft Punk may have felt they were not up to the standard of the others.)

There’s plenty more that can be gleaned from the Oh My Disney article, so I definitely recommend everyone checks it out!

My TRON 2.0 Review For The CRPG Book Project

By TronFAQ on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 12:06 AM

I've mentioned working on this before, but it’s finally done and has been accepted. My review of TRON 2.0 for the CRPG Book project!

http://crpgbook.wordpress.com/about-the-project/

Doing the review has had an impact on the amount of time I could spend working on mod projects, up until now. (Part of why the next version of the Killer App Mod is taking so long.) But there was simply no way I could turn down the offer to write it. :)

I felt it was an extremely important opportunity, especially since my review will be in the same company as those written by people who are luminaries in game development or the gaming press. Such as Chris Avellone (Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas), Peter “Durante” Thoman (of DSFix fame), George Weidman (Super Bunnyhop), Jason Scott (Internet Archive), and more.

I want to thank the curator/editor of the book, Felipe Pepe, for being patient with me. It took a long time to write, and I kept making endless revisions to the review. (Which was originally much longer, but had to be edited down to fit into two pages. So I had to pick and choose, which points about the game were the most important to address.)

June 8th UPDATE: The fourth preview of the CRPG Book Project in downloadble .PDF form has just been released, which now contains my TRON 2.0 review!

TRON Evolution PC Multiplayer Map Pack #1 DLC Download

By TronFAQ on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 8:54 PM
Took a break from modding TRON 2.0, to turn my attention to TRON Evolution for a moment.

If you bought the Retail DVD version of TRON Evolution for PC, it came with a code that let you download two additional Multiplayer maps for free. For some reason (in a typical display of Disney Interactive’s wisdom), these maps were not included with the Steam version of TRON Evolution.

GFWL (Games for Windows Live) still works, and you can play Multiplayer online with other players, no problem. But these maps can no longer be downloaded from GFWL via the code, even on the Retail DVD version. Great, huh?

Well, fret not. Since anyone who bought the game at release was entitled to these two maps for free, I have no qualms about making these available again. (Besides, without the game this DLC is pretty useless.)

TRON Evolution Multiplayer Map Pack #1 DLC Download

After you run the installer, you’ll have two additional Multiplayer maps in TRON Evolution. Codestream Nexus and User’s Plaza. This installer should work for either the Retail DVD or Steam version of the game.

I’d like to thank my pal Parallax Abstraction for helping me test the map installer. The maps showed up for him in-game, and we played a few matches. These maps did indeed seem to be working correctly in terms of game mechanics and scoring, as far as we could tell.

The only thing I’m definitely not certain about, is whether this installer will work for people who are playing TRON Evolution in a language other than English. It should work. But, I can’t 100% guarantee that. Everyone let me know if you have any issues with the installer.

TRON RUN/r Game Full Release On Februrary 16, 2016 - Coming To PS4 And XB1 As Well

By TronFAQ on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 9:54 PM
Disney Games just released a trailer stating what we already knew for months: that what became TRON RUN/r, would also be released on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles. (I can also see the game ending up on mobile devices, like the iPad.)

The game has been available for PC on Steam in Early Access, for almost two months, in an incomplete form for $10. But now we've learned that the complete game will be released on February 16, 2016 at $20.

TRON RUN/r official trailer

A page on the Disney Games web site reveals there will be 32 levels in total, and some sort of multiplayer functionality called Stream mode (though it's not clear if this is one-on-one head-on, or simply leaderboards). In addition to what's already there in the Steam Early Access version (running on foot doing Disc battles, and Light Cycle racing). There will also be sections where you grind on rails and battle Light Tanks, and most likely Light Runner racing (the vehicle that Quorra drove in TRON Legacy).

Much of the new content coming to the full release was already uncovered by myself a month ago, in a couple of posts — Post 1 and Post 2 — on tumblr.

For more background on the somewhat rocky path that TRON RUN/r took to release, I did a video (below). There's also a previous article showing concept art and how TRON RUN/r was stealth marketed up until now.

TRON RUN/r video about rumors, speculation, and some facts

January 27th UPDATE 1: A written article and video from IGN seems to confirm that despite the earlier rumored involvement of Skrillex for the TRON RUN/r soundtrack, he did not end up contributing. The video also confirms that those who buy the Steam Early Access version of TRON RUN/r for $10 will get the full game (as per the official Steam Early Access policy), instead of the $20 being charged for the console releases.

IGN TRON RUN/r video

February 1st UPDATE 2: According to the Steam discussion forums, where someone has said he was able to play the February 16, 2016 release of TRON RUN/r at PAX South, the Stream mode where you can "challenge friends" is just racing separately and comparing scores on a leaderboard. Not proper player vs. player (PvP) competition. Rather disappointing news.

Also, the Light Runner and new characters I discovered hidden in the Steam Early Access version of the game will apparently not be there for the Feb. 16th release. It looks like they will arrive later, as DLC. There are also supposed to be more Companions (those floating assistants that look like a Bit, or Byte) in the future. On the plus side, there is now a female counterpart character you can play as, and you can change your character's color.

Note that these latest details are all second-hand, unconfirmed information, though. So let's wait and see what the situation is when the game actually releases.

Thanks to Debonair Kitty on the Steam forums for the news!

March 19th UPDATE 3: It looks like TRON RUN/r is getting Linux and Mac versions. The Linux version will probably also work on Valve’s SteamOS.

http://steamdb.info/app/392000/history/?changeid=1833113

The Linux/Mac ports are apparently being handled by Tin Giant Games.

Thanks to flesk on the Steam discussion forums, for making me aware of this.

March 21st UPDATE 4: The Mac and Linux/SteamOS versions have just been added to the TRON RUN/r store page.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/392000

Thanks to the SteamPlay cross-buy feature, if you already bought the Windows version of the game you get the Mac and Linux/SteamOS versions free.

March 22nd UPDATE 5: The Mac and Linux/SteamOS versions have been temporarily removed from the TRON RUN/r store page.

But you can clearly see the Mac, Linux/SteamOS, and SteamPlay logos on this archived version of the store page.

The Mac and Linux/SteamOS versions will return, but why did they go live if they weren't ready yet?

TRON Roller Coaster Was Originally Planned For United States, May Still Appear There Someday

By TronFAQ on Thursday, January 07, 2016 at 3:31 PM
Today I stumbled across a very illuminating report published by the California Polytechnic State University, shared under Digital Commons. Which is a way of promoting free access to content and information.

It seems that the Walt Disney Imagineering team, responsible for the rides and attractions at Disney’s theme parks, decided to add their report about the TRON Roller Coaster’s early planning and design to the University’s digital archive, and the University has now shared it with the public.

The coaster was originally called TRON 2.0: The Experience, hinting at how long it’s been in development. I’ve only skimmed through the lengthy, very technical document the Imagineering team published. But key takeaways are the following.

  • The coaster was tentatively proposed to first be built in Magic Kingdom Florida, becoming part of the Autopia attraction. With a possibility of it also being built at Disneyland in California. Obviously, plans changed. The upcoming Disneyland Shanghai park in China got the coaster first. Interestingly, the U.S. design differs quite a bit compared to what we're seeing from the China design.

  • Three possible designs were proposed. Light Plane (sic) aka Light Jet, Light Car (sic) aka Light Runner, and Suspended Rail. The Light Car/Runner design was ultimately chosen. Though, it apparently changed to Light Cycles for the Shanghai coaster.

  • The report hints that a TRON Roller Coaster may still be built in the U.S. eventually, but China was clearly selected to be first.

“... plans for a TRON-themed roller coaster were announced during the summer of 2015 in preparation of the new Disneyland Shanghai theme park. This further confirmed the notion that TRON could work as a marketable subject for WDI to install seamlessly into one of its theme parks.”

In other words, the Coaster in Shanghai paves the way for further development at another location, in the future.

TRON 2.0: The Experience Roller Coaster concept art

July 16th UPDATE: There is now a rumor circulating that a TRON roller coaster — similar to the Light Cycle coaster in Disneyland Shanghai — will be built to replace the Body Wars ride in the closed down Wonders of Life Pavilion, at EPCOT's Future World in Disney World Florida. Florida was the Disney Imagineering planning document's proposed first pick, as a location for building a TRON roller coaster in the United States.

Thanks to TransAm_Paul and UnitedTronArmy on Twitter for making me aware of this rumor!

March 21st, 2017 UPDATE: So, I have no idea how accurate this source of news is. But based on the source’s Twitter timeline, it seems pretty legit. (Thanks to UnitedTronArmy for making me aware of it!)

https://twitter.com/yourWDWguy/status/843913197170122752

This individual is stating that the Tomorrowland Speedway ride – at Magic Kingdom, in Walt Disney World Florida – may be replaced by a TRON roller coaster, by the 50th Anniversary of the park. Which would be in 2021.

It’s also stated that whether or not the coaster is built, depends on reception of a TRON 3 film. Huh.

This lines up with earlier information, that always places the coaster as being built at WDW in Florida. In fact, this latest rumor places the coaster almost exactly where the info I had in this article, over a year ago, said it would be.

TR2N Liberation - A TRON Legacy Game (Cancelled) That Was In Development Before TRON Evolution

By TronFAQ on Monday, January 04, 2016 at 2:46 PM
Shortly after the TRON Legacy teaser trailer debuted at the 2008 San Diego Comicon, it turns out that Disney put out the word to game developers, that they wanted to see their pitches for a game based on the upcoming TRON Legacy sequel film.

Which is surprising to me, considering that — at that point — Disney was in the process of expanding their Disney Interactive Studios division considerably, and had started or acquired multiple game studios already. (They've since closed many of those studios, and scaled back their ambitions in a dramatic fashion.)

Nevertheless, Day 1 Studios (now a division of Wargaming, the company that created the game World of Tanks) stepped forward and created a prototype game with the working title of TR2N Liberation. (Since the title for the sequel hadn't been decided yet, at that point in 2008, it was still being referred to as TR2N.)

Footage of the prototype can be seen in the video below. It was clearly in a very early stage, and apparently done in only a few weeks. You could race against an opponent Light Cycle on a track, and later do simple Disc combat against that same opponent. (It's not clear whether the opponent was meant to only be controlled by another player, or could be an AI to create a Single Player experience for both game modes. Though probably the former, due to the lack of time Disney afforded development.)

TR2N Liberation Prototype game footage

After seeing the footage, it seems to me that the recently announced TRON RUN/r game on Steam is going to be very similar in a number of ways, and may have actually borrowed ideas from this unreleased prototype.

Ultimately, Disney decided to give the TRON Legacy video game project to Propaganda Games, and we got TRON Evolution instead. (Very likely because Disney happened to own Propaganda.)

There would have been a certain irony if Day 1 Studios had been the company responsible for a TRON Legacy game. When Monolith Productions was unable to commit to the development of F.E.A.R. 3 — another follow-up to their successful F.E.A.R. series of games — Day 1 Studios took over and developed F.E.A.R. 3. History would have repeated itself, if Day 1 Studios had developed the next TRON game after Monolith Productions.

For more details, and the original source of the information (that this article is based on), visit the TR2N: Liberation article on the Unseen64 site. Unseen64 specializes in documenting cancelled games.

Thanks to mister-julius and inevitablesurrender on tumblr for making me aware of this!

March 21st, 2017 UPDATE: I'm very late to the party, but I wanted to add this additional video that Did You Know Gaming/VGFacts/Unseen64 did on the cancelled TR2N Liberation. Which goes into additional detail about what happened with the project.

TRON RUN/r - New TRON Game On Steam (In Early Access)

By TronFAQ on Saturday, December 05, 2015 at 2:14 AM
I did a video about TRON RUN/r (formerly TRON Escape), which goes into the rumors and events leading up to the title's release, and a few details about the game itself that you probably won't find anywhere else.

If you'd also like to read more about the events leading up to the release of TRON RUN/r, and take a look at some concept art and screenshots, check out the previous TRON Escape article.

January 27th, 2016 UPDATE: The full version of the game is being released on February 16th, 2016. Find out more in this article.

Is This Concept Art From The (Cancelled?) TRON Escape Game?

By TronFAQ on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 7:11 PM
UPDATE: The game was not cancelled. Instead, the "leaked" concept art and screenshots were part of a marketing stunt. But the game is now called TRON RUN/r instead of TRON Escape, and is currently only available as a Steam Early Access title. More details about it can be read in this article.

So I’ve been seeing some images floating around lately, in various places. I sourced (what appears to be the complete set of) them from this tumblr page: http://abandonedproducts.tumblr.com/

The first time I saw one of these, I thought maybe it was TRON Evolution concept art. But now — unless these are fake — I’m thinking they may be concept art for the TRON Escape game that was rumored about, months ago.

These leaked images, sadly, lead me to conclude that TRON Escape is probably dead. (Also, the name of the tumblr page these came from is "abandoned products" which could be taken as another hint.) Otherwise, these images would not be leaking out. (Again, provided they aren’t fake.) The development and release of a new game very likely hinged on a new film being released as well.

November 22nd, 2015 UPDATE 1: Two more concept art images have been added. A friend of mine on Steam (MAK777) suggested that these concepts indicate the title was going to be an infinite runner style of game, and I tend to agree with that assessment. The game's "TRON Escape" moniker would also lend weight to that idea.

I've always believed that the rumored new TRON game would be a budget title, rather than a big AAA release, and an infinite runner would fit that category. It was supposed to be released on PC, PS4, and XB1, but a lower-budget simplistic style of game could easily be ported to mobile platforms as well, and was probably the impetus behind this kind of gameplay design. Again, provided all of these images aren't fake.

Too bad Disney didn't seem to learn from TRON Evolution, because it was exactly the parkour/running/on-rails sections of that game that players have stated they enjoyed the least. (Phrases like "Prince of Persia clone" were bandied about frequently.) But, Disney probably weren't too concerned if this was meant to be a simpler, budget title.

November 22nd, 2015 UPDATE 2: And now screenshots have appeared, sourced from this DeviantArt page: http://post-proto.deviantart.com/gallery/

November 24th, 2015 UPDATE: The pages that were the sources of this concept art and the screenshots, have been deleted. Reinforcing the conclusion that these are indeed leaked TRON Escape pre-production materials. (If they're fakes, then they're awfully good ones.) I'll leave the links to these pages in place, even though they are now devoid of content.

November 26th, 2015 UPDATE: It seems our source is back, with 3 more screenshots.

December 3rd, 2015 UPDATE 1: Our source has returned again, this time with 9 additional screenshots.

It seems plausible, judging from all of the shots released so far, that TRON Escape was cancelled at a fairly early stage. Since the geometry and texturing in the environments of certain shots appear to be incomplete. Also, the other page (from the same source) that some of the screenshots came from was named "post-proto". In other words, suggesting it was post-prototype (aka demo) or "vertical slice". But still not complete.

December 3rd, 2015 UPDATE 2: IGN has posted an article regarding these concept images, and linked to my article here on this site. The author provides additional speculation as to what the images could be, and his article also includes one new image I've never seen before. (I hope he doesn't mind my including it here.)

While the author provides other potential explanations as to what the images could represent, this latest screenshot more or less helps support the conclusion that they've all come from TRON Escape. (Hint: Look at the title in the window title bar.)

Note the "October 16 2015" build date in the screenshot. If TRON Escape has been cancelled, then it happened pretty recently.

December 3rd, 2015 UPDATE 3: After taking the time to scrutinize IGN's article, I've noticed some interesting details.

  • The article mentions sound assets. Interesting. I haven't come across any yet. No one has.

  • The previous point, new screenshot, and the higher quality versions of existing screenshots in the article, suggest IGN has been in contact with the leaker. Or, at least, the author of the article has better Google search skills than I do.

  • Also curious is the "Advertisement by ENCOM International" subheading on IGN's article, and the disclaimer at the bottom stating that it's part of a "special advertising section". Does IGN know something we don't? Does this mean TRON Escape isn't cancelled? And these leaks are part of an elaborate marketing stunt ahead of the 2015 Game Awards show?

December 3rd, 2015 UPDATE 4: All of these TRON Escape "leaks" were apparently a marketing stunt. A preview of the game was on the 2015 Game Awards show. Only now, it's called TRON Run/r. I suspected as much when the IGN article had a "special advertising section" disclaimer attached to it.

TRON Run/r is on Steam now! http://store.steampowered.com/app/392000/
(Thanks to Neo aka @Employee_427 on Twitter for pointing this out.)

December 3rd, 2015 UPDATE 5: An entry on SteamDB reveals that TRON Run/r is being developed by Sanzaru Games, who were responsible for the Sonic Boom games.

It also shows that the game will have a lot of DLC (7 so far) and also lists the achievements. One of the achievements is named "TRON 3?". Hmm.

(Thanks to @alexislightus on Twitter for the tip!)

December 4th, 2015 UPDATE: Adding some additional speculation, here. I wonder if TRON Run/r was indeed almost cancelled. Or else why release it as an Early Access title on Steam? Might this have been the only way to save it? Release the game unfinished, and see if the interest is out there, to convince Disney execs to allow development to continue?

December 5th, 2015 UPDATE: I've created a video about TRON RUN/r and featured the video in a new article. It goes into the rumors and events leading up to the title's release.

TRON 3 Petition And Letter Writing Campaign

By TronFAQ on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:47 PM

With the possible cancellation of TRON 3 (aka TRON Ascension), Bruce Boxleitner saying he is "done with TRON", and no mention of the rumored TRON Escape game at Disney's recent D23 2015 Expo, now is the time to show support for the TRON franchise once more.

A petition to try and save TRON 3 from cancellation has been created by fan Lucas Lowman, which has gathered just over 44,000 signatures at the time of writing this. I believe the petition will be mailed by post to Disney, when it reaches 50,000 signatures.

As a prelude to mailing in that petition, a letter writing campaign is underway and asking for every TRON fan's help over at the site SaveTRON3.com created by fan Joey Hanson. It asks everyone to send letters on August 29th, 2015 to certain executives at Disney, who hold the responsibility for making decisions as to which of their films are greenlit.

If you don't want to write a letter yourself, prepared letters can be downloaded from here and printed, for you to sign. The names and addresses to write to are on the SaveTRON3.com site, but I'll repeat them here.

Walt Disney Studios
ATTN: Robert A. Iger
500 S Buena Vista St
Burbank, CA 91521
(Walt Disney CEO)

Pixar Animation Studios
ATTN: John Lasseter
1200 Park Avenue

(Walt Disney Chief Creative Officer)

(Walt Disney Studios Chairman)

Walt Disney Studios
ATTN: Sean Bailey

(Walt Disney Pictures President)

At the same time, fans are being asked to include blue glow sticks with their letters, as a symbol of their desire to see another TRON sequel. Glow sticks can be obtained at most party and novelty stores for about a dollar. The idea is to create a bit of a "nuisance" that makes your letter more difficult to ignore.

But the importance of writing to more than one person at Disney cannot be overstated. Even with the glowsticks, writing to only one individual means there's a chance your letter can end up in a wastebin, unread and ignored.

By writing to several people at Disney, the chance of internal discussion about the letters is greatly increased. This advice was given to me by someone who was an employee at Disney, and when I sent in a petition on the 25th Anniversary of TRON, I followed the same advice. It seemed to have some measure of success, because I heard through the grapevine that it had a minor influence on Disney's attitude toward greenlighting TRON Legacy.

So if you'd like to see a TRON 3, seize this opportunity, and write those letters. Petitions and letter writing campaigns can work, if the numbers are high enough and these efforts receive media attention.

Thanks to Lucas, Joey, and all the fans who help to keep TRON alive.

TRON Lives!

August 30th, 2015 UPDATE: Below is a photo of the letters and glow sticks I sent, attempting to now save TRON for the second time.

How To Install And Play TRON 2.0 And TRON Evolution on Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP

By TronFAQ on Saturday, August 01, 2015 at 12:32 AM
Do ‪‎TRON‬ 2.0 and TRON Evolution work on the release version of Windows 10?
